Joining The Lash Brigade - Joan Collins And DHC

And we are back on our quest for that one perfect mascara. If you are a minimalist makeup fan like me, the quest becomes even harder with every new mascara promising enough drama to have their own show on Channel E! Joan Collins Class Act and DHC Double Protection have steered in a totally different direction, with one boosting lash growth and the other offering a new water resistant technology.

Joan Collins CLASS ACT comes in a gorgeous classy gold casing. The applicator is a lot thicker than DHC and looks goopy at first. But it applies like a breeze, smooth and even, leaving no clumps. The applicator brush reminds me of Charlotte Tilbury’s Legendary Lashes, dense and short. Its light weight formula slightly curls, separates and lifts each lash, making them look fuller in a more healthy way. This light-weight liquid is perfect for drama averse girls who refuse to join the va-va-voom lash brigade. With sufficient intensity to make you look doe-eyed but subtle enough to pass away for natural lashes, this one's a keeper. Plus, my lashes felt healthier even after I removed the mascara using VICHY’s Spa Purify eye cleanser. I am definitely giving this one a try for 30 days to see if I can get that extra 1mm on my cilium.

DHC Double Protection has opted for a cleaner, silver finish for its Perfect Pro Mascara. The dainty applicator is easy to use and picks up just the right amount of product. On application, the thin wand clearly gave my spiky lashes some much-needed length. It separates, lengthens and darkens the lashes in two coats. It stayed put for a whole working day without flaking or looking brittle. Being an inherent clutz, I somehow had small black marks in and on my an eyelid. I blame the current chunky applicator handles for ruining my judgement with this one! Nothing some getting used to can't fix. The best part you ask? It indeed comes off with warm water (Not Cold – I tried) without leaving any black smudges around the eye. Slightly brushing the lashes with warm water released rubbery residue in seconds. The water-resistant tube-technology apparently forms a coating around each lash which can only be dissolved by warm water. This one's a bargain in the long-lasting water-resistant territory. I wonder when foundations will start using this technology!? Imagine just washing your face off after a long day’s work. Bliss!
