Sunglasses as a Christmas pressie and how to find one for your face shape

Can we get a few things straight? Your eyes need UV protection from sunlight throughout the year, not just Summer. Just like you need SPF for your skin all year round. Secondly, it may seem colder than Iceland in your part of the world come December but if sunlight is making you frown, you probably need to dig out those sunnies.

If you have a decent budget and are struggling to find a luxurious present for your dearest one this festive season, may I recommend a good old pair of sunglasses? It's not something that's on the top of the list when it comes to Christmas gift ideas but I can assure you the recipient will be more delighted to receive these than another overpriced scent. I know I would!

Okay, so coming to face shapes and sunnies,  below is my guide for dummies. It's not highly technical but easily applicable. If it's a present, you want to head over to the recipient's most narcissistic social media platform for an ample selection of selfies to identify their face shape from.

Round and Oversized. Go for these stunners if you have a heart-shaped or an oval face. For you lucky peeps out there with a svelte face and high cheekbones, this will enhance your bone structure even further (super jealous!) and add some width to your face.

The wonderful Wayfarers. I call this the square with rounded edges. The superbly adaptable shape is great for fuller faces and wider face types. The square in the shape adds structure, whereas the rounded edges soften features and draw attention away from the width of the face. Magic, pure magic.

Amicable Aviators. If you are someone like myself who is a little shy of donning sunglasses for the fear of them looking overdone, flashy, not suiting a particular apparel/makeup style or the frame shape not being complimentary for everyday wear, then you need yourself some Aviators my friend. Classic and foolproof, this thin rimmed beaut will blend seamlessly through the crevices of your face, almost moulding into a bespoke fit. You definitely need two in your wardrobe, a mirrored green or pink for the evenings and a khaki or a black for daytime. My Rayban Aviators from SmartBuyGlasses have a gradient effect, brown lens with gold rims.

The cateye. If you are completely the opposite of above when it comes to personality, cateye sunglasses are the bomb. There was a phase when they went out of fashion but they've returned with a bang, especially amidst celebrities. I feel these are particularly great if you are slightly more mature and want to offer yourself a quick facelift.
