Okay, so Carmex has taken user reviews into account and formulated a new tingle-free formula, which has all the benefits of the original lip balm, minus the tingling sensation. Plus it comes in a tropical cocktail flavor. Hubba Hubba! I still remember being startled when it started tingling like Pop Rocks the first time I tried Carmex (almost a decade ago! Yikes). The original Carmex still has a permanent place on my dresser along with Dr. Lipp. Luckily, my lips are quite low maintenance and stay healthy with a daily post-shower scrub with a good old flannel. Carmex comes handy when I feel like rocking beautiful matte lip colours or the weather's wrecking havoc on my skin. I let it dry for a good few minutes, so the balm gets fully absorbed before applying matte lipsticks or any other drying products.
The new Carmex is menthol and camphor free; the ingredients responsible for the cooling tingling sensation. And yes, I am pleased to report that it did not tingle at all! It comes in Peach & Mango flavor. But on application, I could smell more peach than mango which is still quite refreshing. The smell is quite mild and evaporates in seconds, just in case you are not a fruity scent fan like myself. What I like about this new Carmex is how the formula sinks into the lips in a jiffy, moisturizing the mouth without a glossy finish. My lips did not absorb the original Carmex that well and I felt like it always kept sitting on my lips if that makes any sense at all. The new formula is definitely an improved version. It's perfect for sealing lipsticks or giving lips a mid-day moisture boost. This one goes straight into my handbag.
