Why do I say that?
Well, because Lord & Berry's Ultimate Lip Liner in 'Rusty' borrows the perfect amount of grey, pink and brown from MAC's cult favourite lip pencils, and produces a wearable shade that's usually seen on models on the runway. It's not very 90's, nor too Kylie - it's somewhere in the middle, trying to carve it's own contemporary niche.
I adore MAC Lip Pencils. In my opinion, it's the finest product the brand makes followed by their foundations. But unlike their soft, blendable formula, Lord & Berry's 'Rusty' resembles a stiff brow pencil in it's formulation. Old tricks like warming the pencil between your fingers and storing it at a warm place, really help the formula apply better.
Now, although that may not make it the perfect choice for cold, winter mornings; it surely gives it an edge in the longevity department.
Pair it with glossy lids as seen at fashion week and pastel pink cheeks this Spring, just to balance out it's stern effect. A handy tip to ensure lips don't look condensed and sharp with darker colours is to avoid tracing lips precisely. Start with some rough sketching and use fingers to blend upwards and outwards to create an illusion of a soft, natural-looking mouth.
