Whether you are all about simplicity, stripes or the spotlight, fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2016 is all about celebrating your individuality. Invest in stand-out pieces, cobble together styling tips from Instagram and play around with colours, textures and detailing to unleash your inner fashionista. Whatever fashion capital you are surrounded by, this is the year to be yourself!
The rebellious
romantic is one of my favourite trends from the runway. It’s your
regular rock-chic look but a tad more toned down, soft and personal. How do you
do that you ask? Pair your regular leather and silver jewellery with lace,
ruffles and softer colours.
Colour
burst in an array of rainbow inspired shades is also
in-vogue this year. Forget restrictive colour blocking, now it’s all about
paint splatters, freestyle, stripes and animal prints all injected with a heavy
dosage of the colour spectrum. Team with chic neutral pieces to let the trend
take the limelight. Finish off with bracelets, necklaces and earrings that are
fizzing with bright and bold colours.
Rich
metallics need not be something that you reserve for the
ballroom or night outs. Spring/Summer 2016 has officially granted permission to
don silver, gold and literally anything that reflects in your casual wear.
Modern molten metals are just as acceptable in the boardroom as they are at
fashion week. The key is to be unapologetic about it and invest in new pieces
that reflect the season’s spirit than digging out outdated staples from the 90’s.
Dramatic silver jewellery is a part of the trend so go all out with chunky
chains, drop earrings and statement pendants.
Take the leap and jump onto the entrepreneurial
bandwagon
Like what you
read? Well, you can actually do more than just sport these fashion trends on
the weekend. With the whole new year,
new you shenanigans still relevant at this time of the year and with a huge
boom in fashion start-up’s, why not bite the bullet and start your own
business? Aiming to become a all-round fashion mogul can sound a little
daunting so experiment with jewellery instead.
Sketch out a business idea: Work out how
you will go about finding a wholesale silver jewellery supplier in the
country (a great one is Mainlysilver), how the logistics will work, who will handle your accounts, admin,
sales support, IT and legal issues and take it from there. There are a plethora
of things to consider but don’t be disheartened by the sheer amount of things
to be done, just take it one step at a time.
Focus on branding and make it unique: This is your
brands USP. The sole factor that will distinguish your business from every
competitor in the market. It can range from making the packaging quirky, including
a range of kids jewellery, to having an
award winning customer service team, a no-fuss return policy, worldwide
shipping, a blog that gives excellent fashion advice around the jewellery, to
all of these! This process would also include thinking of a brand name,
registering your company etc.
Think of a sales outlet: Most fashion
and jewellery entrepreneurs these days start their venture online. It’s
affordable, accessible and global. Think ebay, Amazon, Etsy alongside your
company website. If you have the means to set up a physical store, voila!
Etch a social media presence: Regardless of
all the above factors, don’t forget to go social. Social = global these days.
Hashtags are a great way to get your business mentioned in a particular story
and you never know who comes across it, a fleet of international customers or
the possibility of a franchise.
