How to achieve the 'Modern Matte' base

You may have seen this on the runway. A base that's matte yet not too flat. Skin that looks velvety smooth but not dehydrated. The aim is not to mimic powdery matte skin from the the 60's. It's a bad ass look that rather yells minimalistic, effortless skin that's low-maintenance and naturally healthy. Sure dewy is gorgeous but there are times when you simply don't want all that illuminating jazz going on. For those plain Jane kinda days, I've recently come across a killer combination.

Apologies as these are both high end and from the same brand but you really don't have to use Claudia Louch goodies to achieve a similar look. It's just about finding the right moisturiser and foundation duo that helps you create the 'modern matte'. Usually I would opt for something like a facial oil or a rich moisturiser in the day time alongside Weleda's Skin Food before applying a super-dewy MAC Face & Body Foundation. But for days when I want to go for a simplistic look that really looks like 'no-makeup' makeup, I'd reach for the Claudia Louch Collagen and Oatmeal Moisturiser and the Claudia Louch Foundation

The Collagen and Oatmeal Moisturiser is slotted into the anti-ageing category by Dr. Louch but for me, it's a lush cold cream like formula that my late 20's skin drinks up like I do bubble tea *thinks about it and drools*. The result is supple, quenched skin with a smooth demi-matte finish. A perfect base for make-up, I can see it being a regular for those warm Spring/Summer days. A matte primer and face powder are both not required with this. Beautiful!

I have the shade N7 Cool Neutral in the Claudia Louch Foundation. It's a little 'peachy' for me but still manages to work by adding that extra bit of warmth to my skin. The texture of this is dreamy, mainly because it's undetectable, super pigmented and dries to a matte finish - all at the same time. With a light formula and promising longevity, it's worth a try for the months to come. And if you are a fan of the post-gym shine on the skin, just throw on some highlighter to adapt the look to your liking.
