SensatioNail Gel Nails Starter Kit – Festive Nails Sorted

If you are amidst those millions of searchers responsible for defaulting 'Christmas Nails 2015' as one of top google searches, then you're in for a treat. Ditch reading magazine articles on 'festive nail designs' as holidays 2015 is all about keeping it simple and classy. This DIY box of magic makes gel nails at home a piece of cake. Housed with the oh so professional LED lamp, it contains a gel primer, gel base, top coat, gel cleanser, nail buffer, bamboo mani stick, lint free wipes and a gel polish of your choice. Mine came with 'Scarlet Red' - bright blood red, smooth and glossy.

Steps - Prep your nails by removing any nail paint and washing hands with soap. Apply a coat of gel primer, followed by base coat. Cure your nails under the LED lamp for 30 seconds. Now apply a first coat of your chosen gel nail paint and cure it again, this time for just about a minute. Apply a second coat and repeat. Lastly, apply the top coat and cure for 30 seconds. The idea basically layering that the LED lamp is responsible for sealing. Just to be sure, pour a bit of the gel cleanser on the lint free wipe and go over your nails to remove any gel residue.

What I like is how well designed the PRO 3060 LED lamp is that it's modern and light weight meaning you can plonk it onto any surface. Fussfree = tick. It comes with an adapter and has just one start button. Once turned on, the lamp is cleverly automated to beep at 30 seconds and an auto shut-off at roughly a minute.

I love the Scarlet Red gel paint. Its thick, bold and bright and the entire shin-dig took about 10 mins per hand whilst watching tele (currently addicted to The Mindy Project - the women is in a league of her own). However, the result wasn't the same with the shimmery shade Call Me Violet which was still see through and patchy after two coats. So go for darker, more opaque shades to be safe, in the likes of Scarlet Red, Misbehave, Midnight Rendevous etc as they are thicker and easier to get the right consistency compared to translucent glittery shades. I can't wait to try Misbehave - a mysterious deep vampy red (to channel your inner Melisandre)

Loves –.Fabulous customer service. Always ready to help and provide tips and tricks. Easy to use LED lamp. Saves you a lot of money in the long term once you get the hang of it. It’s been a week and the Gel manicure is still intact. One kit ensures 10 manicures saving you tonnes on those overpriced salon alternatives. Get more bold and pigmented shades from Boots to complement the starter kit at £15 a pot and you're good to go for a couple of months.

Meh's – It’s like nail art. Some people are naturally gifted, while others always create synchronised splodges. The kit requires practise to get it right. If you naturally have a skilled hand at things like nail art, then this will be a walk in the park. Initially I was like a headless chicken trying to work out what’s gone wrong during my nerve-racking first attempt. Only if I had seen their Facebook tutorial beforehand. Thank me later.

The SensatioNail Gel Starter kit retails at £69.99. So start throwing hints to friends, co-workers, grandparents and get someone to buy it for you this Christmas! #christmasiscoming
