This is the only make-up book you will ever need, period. Having said that, I am not a huge collector of books when it comes to beauty and there is a reason for that. I find beauty books these days a bit like a magazine. They seem seasonal and focused on a branded products and trending looks. When I read Lisa Eldridge was bringing out Face Paint, it was an instinctive response to pre-order it from Amazon weeks in advance. It's purely because her video's like the Marilyn Monroe one, Korean and Japanese beauty and beauty regime on long haul flights are soo informative, giving the viewer a history lesson in under 10 minutes. I knew the book would be an extension of that and better!
No gimmicky make-up looks, no must-have products, no content that you've ever read before. It falls in the collection category for me, where it's a classic that does not go out-of-date and can actually be passed on. It makes me think of the time and energy Lisa and her team must have invested in producing this gem of a book. I am so glad we finally have such a masterpiece of information on make-up, skincare and beauty regimes that have been observed since centuries across different cultures worldwide and how they have shaped the way we see make-up today.
The imagery in the book is stunning. It's all a form of art and is meant to inspire and make you think. Face paint is intelligent, exhilarating and something that would take you and me years to research and produce. It has no wonders come from queen Lisa and her bank of knowledge cobbled together with her expertise, making it a beautiful read for any women who has used cosmetics even once in her lifetime.
Seeing how it constantly keeps going out of stock due to it's popularity, I am giving away one copy to a lucky winner this December. This is available to UK residents only and the winner will be announced on the blog on 25th December, so keep your eyes peeled. #facepaintbook
