Clothes for boys are difficult to shop for is something I've learnt from experience. Be it the brother, boyfriend or dad, their levels of fussiness when it comes to liking or disliking a piece instantly surpasses that of the ladies. If you have a huge budget, sure you can go out splurging on designer brands to make a nice big hole in your wallet. On the other hand, if like most people you are looking for a bargain, it's best to shop online. Of course it will take some time, rummaging around the web looking for the kind of pieces tickle your fancy but it's always worth it in the end.
The wedding season will be here soon as Summer arrives and formal menswear can cost you an arm and a leg, regardless of the gender you're buying for. Looking for some formal mens shirts for the boyfriend, I came across a website in Canada (yes they do FREE shipping!) under the moniker His Boutique and it has some very lovely pieces which I had to share in case any of you ladies goes online shopping for your other half too. In particular, I quite liked the look of their blazers, formal jackets, shirts and waistcoats - the key elements needed in putting together a wedding look. It's safe to play neutral with shirts but if you're shopping for a younger lad who likes to channel bold and fun, then this dark blue shirt with check detailing is on point.
A waistcoat is essential and adds that finishing touch to formal menswear. After seeing the absolutely dull collection in stores consisting of literally all shades of grey, His Boutique's peach and blue renditions of the classic would look so interesting and unique. You would have to style it carefully to avoid going overboard but nonetheless, it will surely not make you look like a clone of all the other men at the formal event/wedding etc. Following up with a blazer, this can actually be one of the most expensive to buy on it's own especially if you're trying to customise your look. You can't go wrong with a black, tan or white number featuring a single button and flap pockets. If you want to go all out with a metallic grey or peach, they come with pocket detailing and double button fastening - great for cocktail parties or a semi-formal night out.
And last but not the least, a coat! Leather jackets and bombers may look modern and easy to throw on for daily wear but for formal menswear, there needs to be a more polished and toned down cover-up. For men who love their waistcoats, this long wind coat available in coffee brow or black would be a foolproof choice for easy sophistication. For a short and lighter cover-up, this buttoned parka in beige or grey would be a sure winner.
