BareMinerals Revisited

Wearing 'Speak your mind' (left) and 'Lead the way' (right) Marvellous Moxie Lipsticks above

I think I had an initial encounter with BareMinerals a few years ago at trying out their powder foundation. It didn't suit my skin, I thought it was overrated and moved on. Coming across their products all over again after so many years, I have to say we must have got on with a bad start. It makes me think how my makeup choices have changed drastically over the years!

Starting with their Pure Brightening Serum Foundation, it's seriously changed my life. In 2014, Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation is the only thing my skin could tolerate. Everything else resulted in a weird explosion. This baby on the other hand took me by surprise. Apparently this year was dedicated to serum foundations and all that jazz and this is the only one I've tried. It's light to medium coverage, a lovely yellow golden shade and is actually like applying a tinted serum/skincare product to your face. Has a gorgeous dewy finish, feels super light on the skin and lasts all day long. Get it!

The flat top buffing brush that it comes with has a small circular dent where you can put a few drops of the foundation before buffing it on the skin. Although not a must-have, it's brilliant quality and surely a step higher than those traditional foundation brushes.

The second thing I was impressed with from the BM rage was their Marvellous Moxie Lipsticks. Oh my god, I've never come across something more lush, creamy and hydrating. Yet they adhere to the lips like glue and leave a strong stain before disappearing. You can eat, drink or go pub crawling and these babies do not budge. Well an occasional top-up may be required but not all the time.

'Speak your mind' is a lovely baby pink with a hint of peach thrown in to keep things fresh and crisp. It's the perfect pinky nude to make things look plump and supple in the lip department. 'Lead the way' is a stunning dark berry with hints of purple shot through it. Must-have for when you're craving a bold lip and want an evening staple. The lip liners and lipgloss are worth checking out as well although I'd say lipsticks are a must-have from Bare Minerals.

The Ready Eyeshadow Palette in 'The Truth' is a lovely one to check out if you're confused with a gazillion nude eyeshadow palettes cropping up everywhere. This one's got an iridescent finish and the shades are soft and dreamy to blend making it a perfect one for day or evening looks.

The Ready Blush is a lovely peachy-pink with golden specks shot through it. Reminding me of NARS Orgasm, this one's more pigmented if you've got deep olive undertones. Give it a whirl this party season!

Overall, the BareMinerals range has evolved by leaps and bounds since when it's forte was only powder foundation. The range is extensive, modern and absolutely decadent to indulge in. The products rarely disappoint and the packaging is to die for. Make way Bobbi Brown and Nars, there's a new favourite in town.
