Dermalogica BioSurface Peel Review

I have always steered clear of chemical peels for some reasons. Heck most advanced facials at salons don't suit my skin. What I am scarred of is irreversible damage to the skin, scars or even something as minor as a breakout. However, when Dermalogica just recently introduced their BioSurface Peel facial, it actually made me take off my cynical cap for a bit and take notice.

Sponsored Video: Nivea Sun - Take care out there

The video above does two things for me.

No.1 – Reminds me of my recent holiday to Mykonos, Greece

No.2 – Also Reminds me how I totally skipped out on SPF all those days. I know, I know – it’s an un-punishable skincare crime.

Aah, how I miss the golden sand, the crystal clear water, the tropical weather and the pleasant night breeze. Now because it was only October, I completely (or purposely!) forgot to take with me an SPF. Because it wasn’t scorching hot, one unconsciously starts to believe there will be absolutely nada sun damage done to the skin. But unfortunately it’s all a myth if you see the video above which will give you a reality check. To be honest, I don’t think I’d like my skin to be analysed by the UV camera. I mean it would surely push me to use SPF for the rest of my life but would seriously scare me for all the existing skin damage I may have already done.

The video filmed in Australia also shows how skin would be protected with SPF. It should just be tinted shouldn’t it? So we all know how much area of the skin it covers. Regardless, the fact of the matter is that SPF is a must, whether you’re planning to go to a winter sun holiday or already thinking about backpacking adventures in Summer 2015. Slap it on your hands, legs, tummy and of course your face generously. Especially with facial skin, I’ve heard two tea spoons is the minimum you need to provide full protection.

Hence don’t fool yourself with a SPF containing foundation as you surely won’t be slapping on so much on a holiday. If you are like me and don’t like applying make-up or slipping into clothes immediately after SPF application, put it on after breakfast and before leaving for outdoors – giving it a good few minutes to soak into the skin, whilst you lounge around in your bathrobe by the pool.  With so many consistencies, formula's and textures in SPF out there, we actually have no room to complain for the white chalky consistency which no longer exists.

Starting A Blog In 2015 - The Yadas and Nadas!

Blogging tips - My two cents on making it in the blogosphere

Get Gawjus will officially complete 6 years this December. Started in December 2008 to take stress of my overloaded brain from Law exams, I decided to get some creative juices flowing to distract my brain during breaks and voila, here we are a good few years and thousands of posts later. If you're planning to start a blog in 2015, then all I have to say is - stop thinking and just do it! It's not as daunting as it looks like and the community is simply wonderful and ever growing. Just ensure your content is something you are passionate about, written in your very own tone of voice and communicated to the right audience.

Claudia Louch Botanical Face Cream with Deep Line Complex

Sponsored Video: Very.co.uk Christmas TV Advert - Step into Christmas in style

Very.co.uk has quickly become a one stop shop for all things fashion. As we near the end of the year, I particularly love their cocktail dresses and evening gowns for some fun festive fashion. I find their outfit styles to be bold, wearable and runway inspired with a hint of traditional element shot through it. Whether it's a corporate and glamorous Christmas party you're hunting an apparel for or a cosy dinner whipped up at home for friends and family, definitely check out their party section for some style inspiration this Winter.

I don't know about you but I am a sucker for adverts at this time of the year. You know they are going to be the best of the lot from the entire year and thankfully, very.co.uk has done a fabulous job with theirs this year. I love Fearne Cotton which automatically makes me give the advert extra brownie points. Plus, the fact that they've shrunk the models makes it refreshing and fairy-tale like to watch. Not to forget embedding the message of Christmas presents being magical, to give our lazy assess the much needed kick to head out and indulge in that overdue shopping list for loved ones.

If you like me always thought very.co.uk only did fashion, you're in for a treat as the online outlet also stocks some of the coolest toys, gadgets and home decor! Check out their uber cool smart watches for kids, tech inspired chocolate bars, on-trend zip clutch bags for women and quirky collectibles for men. And their home section has the cutest Christmas decorations I have browsed online. Not tacky, not run-of-the-mill but seriously wonderful and charming interiors to put you in the festive spirit.

Vichy Idealia Life Serum & Eye Contour Idealizer - The Perfect Combination

I've always loved Vichy's serums and their Life Serum is my favourite of the lot. With the right amount of slip, a breathable texture and easily absorbable formula, it's a lovely one to smother on be it day or night. Use it to perk up the skin in the morning followed by a quick skin tapping massage routine by Lisa Eldridge or use it as a pampering treat at night to nourish fatigued skin.

It's more a morning serum as it has that lovely pick-me-up finish that reflects light off the face and imparts a subtle radiance. Perfect for oily-combination skin, the serum is like an oxygen mask for my face after going through a tonne of the city's polluted air. What's new from the brand is the Eye Contour Idealizer. Although I don't see any contouring, anti-ageing benefits to this, I feel it's a great booster for young, tired eyes.

Containing light reflecting particles and a lovely, hydrating formula, the concoction is energising and fresh. If you like light eye serums and gels, this is a great one to try. Also sneakily helps at camouflaging those pesky under eye circles with it's illuminating finish. Overall, if you suffer from dehydrated, combination skin that's young, fatigued and needs a pick-me-up, these two products are easily the best out there.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum In Oil

I have always been a fan of serum and oils to apply at night but never gotten on really well with any particular brand or type of product. They have either done nothing spectacular for me, leading me to forget about them and letting them gather dust until rediscovered again or they've broken me out into a cluster of white heads the very next day. This, fortunately, did none of that. Often raved about by bloggers, skin experts and magazines, this is apparently the star product from The Body Shop's Vitamin E range. Although I've heard the entire range is to die for and is full value for money, even better, this baby here can give fifty quid serums a run for their money.

Loving myself a good old bargain, I slathered my skin in this quenching formula for a good few nights and guess what, I think I'll repurchase for life! I don't quite get the name 'serum in oil' as I feel they are already similar textures but regardless, I do get what they're trying to say. Some people like light weight serums in the evening and some, hydrating oils and this hits the perfect balance between both. You only need one drop from the dropper and it's enough to cover your face and neck. With the amount of slip it delivers, it calls for a quick 3 minute face plumping facial at least.

The serum is lightly hydrating initially and is great for getting rid of taut skin or any dry spots instantly. I love how it leaves skin looking well rested, plump and nourished in the morning. As if I've just started eating clean, drinking detox teas, working out and indulging in regular facials - life cheat much? Hah! It's got a high dose of wheatgerm oil which is packed with anti-ageing benefits, antioxidants and a bunch of vitamins. Once on, you don't need any more skincare on top of this for the rest of the evening. For £13, I seriously think they've got the price wrong for this one. Add this to your serum collection even if you have combination-crazy skin like myself. It will work just as well.

KIKO Luxurious Make-up Collection

KIKO's make-up collections since the past few months have been spot on. From pigmentation to presentation, they never fail to make an impact. This Luxurious Collection is quite a universally likeable one in the sense that it's not about fuchsia or neon colours but more about luxury and sophistication. The colour palette used in the collection is muted and neutral yet high gloss and shine to add warmth and light to the face. It's about getting that expensive looking, glossy skin and glistening, shimmering eyes without a splash of obvious colour.

What you need from the collection is the Luxurious Face Brush. With it's pale gold handle, dip dyed brush hairs and uber soft touch, it's all you'll want to use on your face. It makes rest of my brushes feel prickly on the skin and makes me rethink if I really need to invest in new ones, possibly from KIKO? We shall see. My Christmas wish-list hasn't kicked off yet.

The regal looking Precious Illuminating Bronzer is also something you'll need to check out from the collection. Featuring an array of tan shades with a dash of pale lavender splashed in, it's the perfect face brightener for Autumn/Winter. You can use it to lightly add shadows under the cheekbone but sculpting the face isn't it's forte. Use it as a tool to add warmth, colour and radiance to the face, to lift it up when looking sallow or pale. I'd recommend using it as a finishing powder if you're looking for something light-weight with brightening properties that would also add a touch of warmth.

As for the Magnificent Highlighter pen, it's surely not my favourite from the collection. Although packaged beautifully, it oozes out a glittering and shimmering concoction that's tad too strong for my liking. Maybe a great one for photo shoots, Asian weddings and editorial work as it does dry to a demi-matte, satin finish but not something you can slap on your face seconds before leaving home. Makes a stunning brow highlight for the evenings though. Might work on the collarbone and shoulders for the festive season!

Fabbnails Gel Nail Polish Kit

I suck at doing my own nails, period.

I also suck at getting my butt up to nail salon regularly, flaunting dull, brittle and lack lustre nails. Having said that, I actually would love to have a personal nail technician who'd visit me in the comfort of my home and do my nails whilst I sip cappuccino and enjoy reading the latest issue of Vogue, bliss! As we all know, the probability of that happening is just as unlikely as Starbucks discontinuing their pumpkin spice latte hence when I came across this gel nail polish kit, I had to share.

Containing a mini nail dryer that can accommodate one or two fingers at a time and a few other tools to get the nitty-gritty of gel polish accurate, it's a portable one that you cannot miss for the price (£24.99). The lamp has a 30 second timer letting you know as to when the gel polish is dry for manicure rookies like myself. The battery operated device ensures you can get gel nails no matter where you are, holiday, work or at home. Perfect for those who love their glossy gel nails but find constant salon trips to be inconvenient, time consuming or dear.

You don't really have to be a pro at doing this. Fabbnails have gel polish in pen applicators so you don't have to go through the real mess involved in creating gel nails. The gel nail pens come with a primer, base coat and top coat to minimise the steps involved in achieving salon worthy nails. Plus it's much easier to fix in case of chipping as all you'll need to do is touch up with these handy pens.

Yes gel nails need proper removal to avoid damaging natural nails hence Fabbnails also do a mini and deluxe removal kit to have that sorted for you. Lasting for two weeks, I absolutely love their gel polish pens and have my eyes glued to a few Autumnal shades. Check them out at here

Back To Basics: Leather Phone Cases

There was a time when I experimented with all sorts of phone cases, ombre, studs, logos, slogans, graphic prints, fur and sequins, phew...you name it. As 2014 progressed however, I felt it was time to tone down things a little for the Winter and go back to basics with the neutral blacks, warm browns and polished khakis. Lets face it, neutrals are timeless and no matter how much you love your bright neons and sugary pastels like myself, they will fade out of style pretty quickly leaving with you with your trusted muted options to fall back on.

If you're lucky enough to have your hands on Apple's latest release, then this iPhone 6 leather case will be just perfect. Fuss free, compact and sturdy. I swear by flip cases for extra protection. If you compare my phone to my friends who rely on the non-flip options, the difference in the condition of the phone exterior is huge! Plus the fact that these nifty leather cases are partially dinky wallets helps in making my cave of a handbag quite clutter-free.

On the other hand, if you're an Android addict like myself, here's a basic option with some mock croc detailing and a glossy finish to give it a bit of an oomph. This Samsung Galaxy S4 leather case is beautiful in real life and doesn't wear out as easily as the cheap ebay ones. Plus it looks great in the evenings paired with a dressy number and heels. These days, I'm lightening up my luggage when heading outdoors and mostly rushing out with just one of these leather phone cases containing my debit card and some cash stashed in.

Rituals Car Perfume

Activated by the flow of air from your cars fan, this car air freshener ensures your ride smells just as good as your home! I love the look of this. The chic wooden exterior makes it a unisex one with guys and girls not fussing much about it not being blue or pink respectively. The sleek wooden finish seems to compliment all car interiors instantly, giving it an earthy, cosy vibe. Rituals do these in a few different scents but the Clary Sage and Green Vetiver one is my favourite. Again, a universally likeable scent, it's neither too masculine nor too sweet. Perfectly suitable for the colder months, it's woody, crisp, green and zesty to act as a pick-me-up.You cannot smell it too distinctively in the car unless the aircon is on as it's not overpowering but a hint of lemon infused, pure citrusy, fresh cut grass like scent in the air is what it gives out. With almost everyone who sees it enquiring about it, I'm terming it my car find of the year.

Claudia Louch Botanical Cleansing Lotion

If you need a cleansing lotion that will clear your face of all the oily gunk and red inflammation, then this is it. Don't be fooled by ingredients such as coconut being present in there that it will be super hydrating or rich. In fact concentrate on ingredients such as aloe, cucumber, green tea that work hard at keeping oily to combination skin balanced, without stripping off essential moisture.

My skin has always been confused but I reserve this cleanser for more oily days when I need that helping hand in curbing all the oil oozing out of my skin. Spots, white heads and breakouts can steer clear of this soothing and calming concoction, as it's sure to zap them down after a few days of use. It is one that leave skin taut for sure so if you're more of a combination-dry skin girl, simply slap on some balancing serum on top. Having said that, it's gentle enough not to cause any dry patches on the skin as such.

An anti oxidant packed formula and one aimed at firming the skin, I feel this would be received quite well in the mature skin crowd who still suffer from breakouts and spots occasionally but want that taut, youthful looking skin. As the colder months arrive, I'd suggest sticking to more nourishing options such as the Chamomile Face Wash from Louch's range and switching it up with the Botanical Cleansing Lotion twice a week. Sterling combination!

Fendi Furiosa

The scent is floral, woody and warm to cut to the chase. It's sweet, refreshing, comforting yet sexy and elegant. You can wear it during daytime but it's sophistication calls for spraying it on during those decadent evenings or date nights when you need something that stands out from the crowd. Furiosa means 'feisty' and the gold and sparkling yellow combination shapes that image up perfectly. The bottle has been designed by jewellery designer Delfina Delettrez who is actually from the Fendi lineage herself.

Top notes are Bergamot and Pink Pepper, Middle notes are Wallflower, Jasmine and Gardenia and Base notes are Amber, Incense and Guaiac Wood. What I can smell distinctively is the Pink Pepper, Jasmine and Amber, which are all my favourite notes fortunately!

As claimed by the brand, the fragrance is all things wild and feminine. It has notes that will empower, ooze out confidence and make you feel bold whereas more softer notes that will embody the colder weather and compliment the festivities around the corner. With abundant of gift ideas out there, gifting a scent has always been my favourite option. It's special in a way as it encourages you to put thought in the gift option and find something unique and identifiable for the recipient. At the same time, it's luxury and classic appeal means you'll hardly ever go wrong.

If you've got a fussy lady to shop for this Christmas, give this baby a sniff regardless of the recipient's age and you might just have one present sorted from the gazillion on your list. Thank me later yo

Orange is in the air?

Whether it's Halloween you're more excited about or the fact that we are into the heart warming season of the year, Autumn finally! Be it Starbucks limited edition drinks that tickle your fancy or that snugly feeling of sitting by the cosy fire as you see crisp leaves fall off the trees, it's time to amp up the orange in your life but lets start with the wardrobe shall we?

Although orange isn't something that was particularly flaunted on the runway this year, it's more of a seasonal colour for this time of the year that never seems to go out of fashion. It somehow has those hints of warmth, fuzziness and yet is still full of life. It's the colour that seamlessly transitions us into the last quarter of the year and mentally prepares us for Christmas.

I personally love to incorporate hints of orange, terracotta, mustard and amber into my attire during Autumn, but if you're not a risk taker when it comes to pulling off the bright shade, leather handbags are the way to go. I am in love with the Halloween-Autumn inspired fleet of orange arm candy above by Vanilla Paris. The shapes are quite modern, sporty, chic and perfect for day to evening transformations. Simply pair them with your neutral khakis, sleek monochromes and lush browns for an Autumn apt look.

Runway Ready Skin Recreated

Regardless of changes in make-up, hair and apparel, a majority of runway shows I ogled over this season had one aspect in common, freaking fabulous skin. This is something that has never altered on those chiseled supermodel faces, be it Gucci or Prada that's being walked on the ramp. If you're looking to re-create that 'no-makeup' make up look which features a glow from within, thoroughly quenched skin, luscious plump lips and an enviable flawless radiance, here are some of my tried and tested winners from the skincare stash that can be used to recreate the sheer gorgeousness.

La Prairie Advanced Marine Biology Eye Gel. The more affordable range from La Prairie, these light green bottles of goodness are worth getting your hands on ASAP. Geared more towards younger faces, it's one that will de-puff lids and under eye area whilst your catch up on your daily snooze. The lightly hydrating formula feels soothing and calming on application and is a foolproof way to have bright peepers in the morn, no matter how much shut-eye you got the night before. Allowing you to slap only a teeny amount of illuminating concealer, it also lends a helping hand in the dark circles (read panda eyes) department. Ever seen a face on the runway with tired, puffy eyes? Me neither.

La Prairie Advanced Marine Biology Tonic. Upping the dose of H2o in your skin, this is another of my favourite product from the Marine Biology range that follows application of the above. A revitalising serum, this is one of those products that gets blood rushing to the surface of the skin, making it appear younger and healthier instantly. It's one of those seriously good wake-me-up skin perker's that can make one appear well rested and skin to look years younger. Get ready to be Id'ed again! On my combination-confused skin, the antioxidant and vitamin enriched formula works wonders and doesn't clash with the sometimes-dry-sometimes-crazy kind of skin situation going on. Being decently moisturising, you can skip moisturiser on an oily skin day but for a runway ready look, I'd say layer it up followed by...

Guinot Longue Vie Cellulaire. The only lush formula that I've come across from a French brand that firms and hydrates skin at the same time. Usually the two aspects seem to clash when it comes to face creams, with some being overtly firming and some, a bit too moisturising. This baby packed with 21 amino acids, Vitamins A, C, D & F is the perfect way to finish off facial skincare. Much like Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Cream, this wonderful formula packed with nutrients and minerals lends an anti-ageing hand to the skin and if you're younger, simply ensures you benefit from all the lovely, potent ingredients. A formula with a decent amount of slip, it allows one to finish the regime with some short yet firm massage movements under the cheekbone, on the cheeks, pinched through the jawline and a few taps on the forehead.

Decleor Aroma Solutions Nutri-Smoothing Lipstick. A concoction of delicious waxes and lush oils whipped up together and created into a lipstick bullet is the next best invention after sliced bread. No more messy hands and unhygienic pot containers lingering with bacteria. Just slide this on and massage  it into the lips with cotton bud to get rid of dead skin cells. Slather on another layer to seal in the moisture and you're good to go. The modern formula is hydrating without leaving a sticky film behind. Perfect for achieving those plump and supple supermodel lips with a demi matte finish.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Golden Shimmer Dry Oil. The small golden particles in this glistening formula will leave face and body skin looking sunkissed minus the oompa loompa tan. With a pure bronzed goddess effect, you can expect skin to appear golden and exotic just like that spotted on the runway. Coat your arms, legs, neck and chest in a light veil of this and see it reflect back beautifully in daylight. The moisturising dry oil formula also ensures skin is quenched with just the right amount of moisture. No more cracked or chapped elbows and knees!

September Makeup Edit

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in shade 3.5. Had to go lighter for Autumn/Winter. Plus this shade is more yellow toned and brighter for me. Previously I wore 4 which although was a gorgeous sunkissed shade, oxidised by the end of the day.

Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzer in Antigua. You can hardly see it here but that light pink flush you see on the apples of the cheeks is all it's magic. I have wanted this baby since years! It's worth all the hype and subtly imparts that sunkissed tan. If you want to look bronzed with a hint of pink that illuminates the complexion, this is a must-have.

Clinique Chubby Stick in Bountiful Blush. Ignored the shade till I saw Kylie Jenner bringing back chocolate brown lips with a bang. Not being a fan of nude lips, it's slightly pink, slightly brown hints are slowly easing me into the trend. Plus it dries to a demi matte finish making it much easier to pull off and comfortable on the lips. With my bright blusher choices, it works wonders.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. Haven't put this dusky pink tube down since it landed on  my doorstep. It's all things gorgeous. Voluminous lashes - tick. Quick drying - tick. Lengthening fibres - tick. Why would anyone ever look back after using this? I certainly won't. Until of course something more va-va-voom comes my way.

MAC Select Cover-up in NC30. I slather it almost everywhere on my face, pretending to only use it as a 'concealer'. Realistically, I would actually quite like to use this as a foundation. High coverage, sets well, non cakey and dries to a demi-matte finish, sterling! Why don't you make this in a 30ml bottle MAC, please

It's a terracotta with sheer white flakes that looks almost ethereal yet casual chic. Perfectly suitable for all complexions from the palest to the most deliciously tanned. Drying to a modern matte finish, it looks perfectly manicured for all casual and formal occasions. Whether you're casually lounging around on a lazy weekend or making conversation in a chic cocktail party, it adapts amazingly to a variety of outfits and moods. Matte shades like these compliment the snug, cosy and warm feel of Autumn/Winter so well and look gorgeous paired with monochrome or rich jewel toned apparel.

Dr Ceuticals Firm & Sculpt Arm Gel

Bingo wings! Something most women are tired of battling in the gym. Sometimes it's an incorrect workout, unhealthy diet or plain old genetics, but flabby arms can be more stubborn to melt for some than others. Of course weight lifting mixed with a generous dose of cardio is something that's perfect to melt the extra baggage on the arms. If you need a little extra help however, try slathering this baby after every arm day.

It won't work wonders melting off that fat and turning it into toned muscle but what it will help with is tightening and firming the saggy skin around that area. With antioxidants, collagen and elastin building properties thrown into the sculpting formula, it's an effective blend to target those jiggly upper arms. A gel like formula that's easy to absorb, feels cool on application and leaves no greasy residue, it's the perfect choice to opt for post-shower or workout instead of your regular body butter offerings.

Visible results in the texture of the skin around the area should be apparently seen in 3 months time. In my opinion, take it as it as i.e. a firming gel for the arms and expect it to work wonders only if you're prepared to work your butt off in the gym. Just thought of putting it out there as there's hardly any great upper arm sculpting products and this is one that fitness freaks would love to have.
