Illamasqua - Come and play in the dark

Do you have problems finding the perfect blue eyeshadow or eyeliner? I always do. However the new pieces from Illamasqua's Art of Darkness Collection have wooed me over. I have in my possession Liquid Metal in Superior (£17) and Pure Pigment in Alluvium (£15).

This is metallic saphire colour as described by the website. "Prepare to dazzle with this gloriously rich and highly pigmented metallic cream. Use to adorn eyes, face and body, and apply with fingers or a brush. Release your inhibitions and illuminate your alter ego."

This is described as an iridescent midnight blue by the website. "Made to be played with. A metallic, high-shine, pure-colour powder that highlights eyes, cheeks and brows. Mix with eye shadow, blusher or use it on its own to intense effect. Bring out your bold side."

The containers as huge in my opinion and they are likely to last you for long! Both the shades look magnificent in the containers and transfer exactly the same on skin too.

I have heard of Liquid Metals creasing on the lids hence I don't intend to use this as an eyeshadow base however you could if you wish. Just make sure you use a tiny bit and don't apply it directly on the crease area, that way you can prevent creasing. This will definitely act as a rich metallic base to make any of your eye shadows pop. Very dramatic and richly pigmented.

The Pure Pigment is absolutely stunning as a loose eyeshadow. They are very similar to MAC pigments if you'd like a comparison but these are much more softer in texture and even in consistency compared to them. They are not gritty at all and again a tiny bit is all you will need to cover the eye area. What I have shown in the picture below is the amount I would use for demonstration, not for the eyes.

This is a gorgeous blue-purple with gold shimmer. This is all I have used below and look how well it blends itself in the crease giving a gradient blended effect. Would be a perfect candidate for smokey eyes. I want to use it with a black eye shadow - would look beautiful!

I like to use the Liquid Metal as a liner for the upper lash line and the water line. It works wonders to brighten up the eyes, enhance its whiteness and look chic without appearing over the top. This is such an interesting alternative to black  Try this to line the upper water line with a liner brush.

It even seems to work with my green contact lenses. I thought green and blue would clash!

I am wearing the Liquid Metal in Superior on the upper lash line and waterline in these pictures as an alternative to black liner and I loved it. The rest of the face includes MAC Face and Body Foundation in C3, MAC Select Cover up Concealer in NC30, MAC Well Dressed Blusher, Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Sandstorm (04), DiorShow Mascara and a mixture of some lipsticks from my MAC lip palette.

What do you like from the Art of Darkness Collection? Overall the collection is mesmerising and the products are fantastic in quality as expected from Illamasqua.

Those colours are gorgeous, I want them!! The blue looks really good as an eyeliner. The brown looked really natural. Do they have a lot of fall out like Mac pigments?

@Shameera - They don't have much fallout in my opinion. Much more easier to work with!

@Binia - I get mine from India. They are Freshlook Colorblends in Green. You get them in violet too and they look stunning :) I wear prescribed ones so I did go to the opticians.

Ugh, I am so jealous of dark eyed girls who can wear colors like this. I have grey eyes and although you would think it would be complimented by a beautiful blue, In fact it looks terrible. *sigh*
