The reason why I did not yet invest in an HD powder is because I have heard it leaves a grey-ish finish on medium complexions which I do not fancy.
Well I have my MAC Studio Fix powder to the rescue and it does work great to be honest, but I can't ignore the fact that it is colored and it will add some color (followed by cakiness!) to my face.
For me, foundation is enough on its own to even out the complexion and add color. A powder should only be used to mattify the makeup or 'set' the makeup from shifting.
Comes in Make Up Store's Micronized Compact Powder. Isn't the packaging so chic? The logo is embedded on the powder so beautifully too.
At first thought It looked a stark white color in the pan. On swatching it appears like a NC15-20 and I knew at first glace that this was not my color.
However when I blended the swatch on my hand, it melted into my skin completely and did not show a sign of color! Now that was surprising. If you see a colored powder, you obviously expect it to be colored right? But this baby is not!
No matter how many swatches of this I put on my hand, it ends up looking translucent and that's the beauty of it. It's like a HD powder but pressed. Isn't that great? A refreshing change from those powder dispensers eh.
It sets makeup perfectly and it does not shift during the day. It does not change the color of the foundation I am wearing but instead brightens my face. I use this liberally even under my eyes but it is so finely milled that it does not cake even slightly.
However, it does not give me a completely matte look too. It has a satin finish to it, which all the dewy-skin fans will adore. It is quite powdery in the pan itself, as in when you swirl your brush you will come across quite a bit of powder in the pan. That said, it is not powdery on the face, it is just not well pressed in the pan.
It comes with a full sized mirror on the lid which is great for touch ups. They make this powder in various other colors. It is translucent but the shade I have will definitely leave a grey-ish tint on someone who's say NC45 right? Hence the different shades. I got sent the one in Beige, which seems perfect for my NC30 skin tone.
This retails for 21.50 GBP and is justifiable for the quality in my opinion.
p.s. The sister with oily-acne prone skin says this sets her makeup better than Studio fix!

That print on it is really nice, almost too nice to use it.
I gave up finding a powder to set my foundation and decided to make my skin behave first which I have successfully done now so I no longer have a need for powder!

Wow, I so wish this was available in the US. Do you know if it is? Your review has gotten me drooling for it. A translucent powder, that is pressed and has great packaging!
Sounds good! I love Makeup Forever HD powder though. But then again I'm so fair so nothing greys on me lol

It looks freaking good!
I have the ELF HD powder and I LOVE it!
This one had a nice size and because its not a loose powder it would be so easy to travel with xoxo
This looks interesting.. I've always been skeptical of 'translucent' powders. I'm definitely no fan of the ashy look.
Thanks for sharing. :]
