Skincare Regime - Cleansers

I ignored my skin for quite a while (make it a good few years) and like most us only adhered to to Moisturizing on a daily basis. Basically I only followed what was essential to prevent dry skin and hence used a body lotion to moisturize my face (gross I know!).

However I always noticed my skin lacked luster, had those occasional blemishes and spots as well as some dry skin patches. I do not have acne prone skin or oily skin overall but still there was never a week when my skin was absolutely flawless!

This led me to take my skincare seriously. I watched quite a few skincare videos on Youtube and the ones I found the most helpful were from Bubzbeauty and GossMakeupArtist. The information they provide is simply invaluable.

I discovered that what everyone was raving about is something that has been established since ages - Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize, short for CTM. We all know about it but we do not feel the need to make an effort to actually imply the regime. This is because most of us either,

- Don't have the time and/or
- Feel that not-so-good skin can easily be camouflaged cosmetically

I don't know about the rest but that was my thinking for sure. Fortunately I was proved wrong and I noticed that my make-up just does not suit my unhealthy skin anymore. We all need a healthy canvas to start with, only then will cosmetics help in enhancing our features and concealing our flaws.

Besides that, I did not want to be covered with makeup all the time and wanted my skin to breath. For that to happen one needs healthy looking skin to flaunt, right?

Hence started my search on skincare products when I stumbled across these gems. As I have mentioned before, I do not like trying out products that are already hyped but rather discover new products and see if they work for me.

The first in line had to be cleansers. Let me tell you ladies, if you thought your makeup removal wipes remove all of your makeup, you are wrong! It just removes the top layer and does not clean your skin of impurities. You need to cleanse your skin properly every day.

Cleansers come in various forms, below I will talk about a Cleansing lotion, Cleansing cream and Cleansing gel.

Elizabeth's Daughter Facial Gel Cleanser - Now this one is supposed to work as a Cleansing face wash and is a high end product in my opinion. Once you have removed the top layer of your makeup with wipes, you then proceed to use this cleanser to remove any remaining traces of makeup. It contains Aloe Vera Juice, Fresh Kiwi Cells as well as Vitamins C & E.

This leaves me with clear skin and it does brighten it immediately to quite an extent. I have a tendancy to have dry-tight skin after using facial washes and surprisingly it does not happen with this. It leaves my face moisturized rather and this could be due to the moisturizing properties of Aloe Vera and Vitamin E.

This is pretty mild, just a gel like consistency and I love using it daily in the morning and sometimes in the evening too when I do not want to use face scrubs. It comes with a pump dispenser and is aimed for the younger age group to preserve youthful skin, hence the name. I am really fond of this product as it works well and there are not many products aimed at preserving young skin.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish - You may have heard a zillion reviews about this and here's my 2 cents on this. This baby is my current love ♥ I use it on dry skin, massage it and then wipe away the makeup with cotton wool and it removes every bit of makeup from your face. I even use this under my eyes and on my eyelids and it does not irritate it even one bit!

It has a lovely Eucalyptus Oil smell and feels like aromatherapy. You can even use this product with a hot muslin cloth as provided and you can also this as a face wash to remove all your makeup or after removing your makeup, as a cleansing face wash. It has innumerable uses to be precise! I use this every alternate day in my skincare routine.

Liz's products are stunning as they are immensely moisturizing, even this cleanser. It is so creamy in consistency and works like a dream. Some of the amazing ingredients include Bees wax, Cocoa Butter, Rosemary Oil and Chamomile Oil. Again due to the natural ingredients, it leaves me with moisturized skin after use. This is her best selling product and is reasonably priced. I am a convert already!

Purity Conditioning Cleansing Lotion - This is a lotion consistency and you can use this over you makeup, massage it for a while and then remove it with a cotton pad and voila - it dissolves makeup like a dream and you have surprisingly clear skin in minutes :) I love these easy to use, effortless products. They are such good value for money.

This is the reason I like such brands compared to the ones sold in drugstores, they actually make good products without spending a tonne on publicity. Although let me remind you guys, the Purity range will be available in Superdrug.

As for ingredients, it has Aloe Vera Powder, Oat Flour, Sweet Almond Oil and Avocado Oil to name a few. This is suitable for sensitive skin and is as natural as products can get. I love to use this as my on-the-go quick makeup remover. If you are looking for a reasonably priced yet effective makeup remover, this is what you should go for as its cheaper than most drugstore brands.

So that was my take on the current cleansers I dote on. I have Combination-Sensitive skin and none of these products have irritated my skin. Cleansers come first in the CTM regime and hence I did this post first. I will be doing separate posts on Toners, Exfoliators and Moisturizers so stay tuned. Remember if your skin is not clean it will most probably lead to breakouts. Your skin will only look like the effort you've put in :)

I never actually follow a skincare regime as such but it seems worth it as you said. Its just that I dont get time and its hard to remain punctual :( But I will try for sure! I love the look of the gel cleanser as I like mild products.

Good ur taking care of yr skin now girly..I get lazy too sometimes but it's really worth the effort. The purity CCL sounds nice. Sounds like Aveeno products would suit yr skin type. Have u tried any? I'm dying to get my hands on some Aveeno.
